SHURA strongly protest the military offensive in Swat Valley
SHURA is appalled by the sheer slavish military action of the Pakistanian government on the alleged Taliban operation in the Swat Valley which has resulted in a human catastrophe of which 360,000 civilians has fled Pakistan .
The offensive which is supported and welcomed by the US is the government's bloody military offensive against the Taliban.
Asif Ali Zardari , the Pakistanian President has the audacity to even deny the predicament his own people is undergoing by his words “ "No. We are 180 million people. There the population is much, much more than the insurgents are," Zardari said, fending off a mounting clamor against his leadership from US lawmakers.
SHURA is perplexed by the way Zardari is handling the Taliban resistance. While attempts to deal with the Taliban for a peaceful engagement has not been exhausted , SHURA questions Zardari on what basis has he decided to ignore the consequences that will be inflicted on the civilians with his heavy military offensive.
Reading the report on the suffering of the civilians , has triggered SHURA to register our strong protest on the way the the Pakistan government is handling the situation..
We demand that the Pakistan army cease to continue the offensive and seek a peaceful engagement with the Taliban and the Pakistan government stop being a US stooge.
